SPORTS AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Sports massage, soft tissue release or deep tissue manipulation - call it what you like, it will make you feel better. The purpose is to prevent and treat sport and NON-sport related injuries, release muscle tension, reduce swelling and pain and ultimately restore musculoskeletal balance. There are many techniques that I use to look at the problem locally as well as 'globally', aiming to not just reduce the symptoms but get to the root of the problem. Myofascial release, scar tissue release, taping and movement therapy will all be used to provide a structured, tailored service.

Dry Needling
Medical Acupuncture (Dry Needling) involves inserting fine needles for a therapeutic effect. Overall, it is an adaptation of the Chinese method just using modern up-to-date knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Medical Acupuncturists no longer conform to the notion of Ying and Yang. However, we do aim to create homeostasis within the body.

Osteopathic spinal manipulation
These techniques have been proven to be highly effective in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions and is promoted by N.I.C.E the national institute of clinical excellence for the treatment of lower back pain. As an osteopathy student, I offer to incorporate the appropriate osteopathic spinal mobilisation techniques during my sessions to further the expected treatment outcome, all of which I am fully trained and insured for.

Myofascial Release
The backbone to the way I work, myofascial release addresses the connective tissue in our bodies. Think of it as the 'wetsuit' that holds and creates the structure of the body, it is an integral and critical layer we often forget about. Due to the nature of this network, tightness in one place may have a direct impact on another, as tension is distributed. Everyday movement patterns may create imbalance in the body and will trigger the body to compensate. If particular muscles are forced to work harder, it means some muscles will fatigue from overuse and others will eventually 'forget' how to even activate, causing lop-sided strength and flexibility. Any restriction will be enhanced by the 'helping hand' of the fascia as it will also tighten and adapt to 'help' your routine (or a particular posture). So working with the fascia is critical in the process to revert the avalanche of restrictions. Throughout a session, this is where change is first created.

Anatomy in Motion (AiM) - Movement Therapy
AiM is a method of correcting postural problems by reviewing the body's postural and walking habits. It tackles each movement inefficiency and limitation, and highlights muscles that are over/underused. You will leave the session with a few specific movement exercises that will help you to re-educate your body to move efficiently, accessing far more of the muscles in your body than before, through your usual everyday habits. The exercises will also elongate the impact of the hands-on therapy session, helping you to be able to maintain a better structural balance.

Kinesio Taping
Contrary to popular belief, taping does not 'fix' muscles into a position. It works with the nerve receptors embedded in our fascia, helping to deal with dysfunctional movement patterns. It can be used to reduce bruising and swelling, reduce pain and most importantly add new signalling patterns that will help us remember and better our postural habits. The tapes are water-resistant and can stay on for about 4-5 days. Testing a small patch on the skin for allergies is strongly recommended before use.
